How the call line works
Is Phoenix Pest Control a pest control company?
No. Phoenix Pest Control is a call line. It connects you with an independent, licensed local pest control company serving Phoenix and nearby communities in Maricopa County. That company performs the treatment and holds the licence. You can ask for its Arizona licence details before the visit.
How fast can someone come?
A visit is scheduled the same day when a technician is free. It cannot be promised, because it depends on the day's calls and your address. You will hear a realistic window when you call, and urgent problems such as a swarm near a door go first.
Can I call outside business hours?
Yes. Phones are answered 24/7, including nights, weekends and holidays. If you are dealing with something frightening, like a scorpion sting or a swarm, say so first. Ask about any after-hours charge before you agree to the visit.
What do you need to know when I call?
Your address and ZIP, what you saw, where you saw it and when. A photo helps if you can take one safely. Do not touch scorpions or nests to get a clearer picture.
Do I need to be home?
For outdoor work such as a block wall or rock yard, you may not need to be there, but agree that with the company. For interior work, or whenever the technician needs to explain a price, it is better if an adult is present.
Scorpions, rats, bees and other Phoenix pests
Why are there so many scorpions in Phoenix block walls?
Arizona's bark scorpion can squeeze through cracks of about 2 mm, and University of Arizona research found that 95% of the refuge bark scorpions used inside structures was in hollow block walls. The walls give protection from extreme temperatures. See scorpion control.
Does a rock yard attract scorpions?
It can. Arizona sources name rocky landscaping, boulders, river rock, wood and pots, and irrigation boxes as habitat. Landscaping rock of about half an inch or less makes it harder for scorpions to move between stones. Our guide on bark scorpions and block walls goes further.
What attracts roof rats in Phoenix?
Maricopa County names older citrus as the main draw in Arcadia, central Phoenix and Ahwatukee. Picking ripe fruit promptly, sealing gaps under eaves and screening roof vents are the county's advice. Roof rats travel along power lines, rock fences, tree branches and palms. See roof rat control.
When is bee swarm season in Phoenix?
In a normal year it runs from mid-March to late October, with most swarms in May and June. Do not spray or seal a swarm or a hive. Keep people and pets away and call for bee swarm removal. We have not confirmed which agency regulates bee removal, so ask the company about its licensing.
When do termites swarm here?
Desert subterranean termites swarm from July to September after monsoon rain, and dark western drywood termites swarm from June to August on sunny days. Winged insects indoors deserve a call. Save a few in a sealed bag. See termite swarms after monsoon rain.
Why do roaches come up drains during storms?
American cockroaches live in sewers and enter homes through pipes. Monsoon rain pushes more roach and ant calls, according to local pest companies. Our monsoon pest guide shows what to check before the season.
Licences and rules
Who licenses pest control companies in Arizona?
The Arizona Department of Agriculture, through its Pest Management Division. It was formerly the Office of Pest Management. Licensing is by category, so ask which category covers your job. Our guide on checking an Arizona pest control licence lists what to ask.
What is a Qualifying Party?
The qualified applicator with extra experience that a pest control business must register with the state. Pesticides may be applied only through Certified Applicators. Both groups complete continuing education each year, 12 hours for qualifying parties and 6 for applicators.
Do termite reports have deadlines?
Yes. A wood-destroying insect report must be done by a licensee in the right categories and kept on file within 7 days. Termite Action Report Forms are filed within 30 days of events such as an inspection report or a pretreatment. The company handles this, not you.
Must I disclose a pest treatment when I sell my house?
We did not find a sourced Arizona or Phoenix homeowner disclosure law, so we will not tell you one applies. Ask your real estate agent or the Arizona Department of Agriculture, and keep your paperwork from any termite inspection.
Prices and scheduling
How much does pest control cost in Phoenix?
Most single Phoenix visits land in the low hundreds of dollars, but the exact figure depends on the pest, the property and the company. The only prices we publish are those a named cost publication backs, shown on the pricing page. Your quote is explained before work starts.
Why will no one give me a price over the phone?
A scorpion problem in a block-wall yard and a scorpion in one bathroom are very different jobs. Honest quotes follow an inspection or at least a conversation about the property. You always approve the price before anything is applied.
Does Phoenix have a mosquito season?
Mosquitoes follow standing water, and monsoon storms leave plenty in pots, buckets and toys. Maricopa County sets more than 800 traps a week, tests them for West Nile virus and St. Louis encephalitis, and fogs a one-square-mile area around a positive trap. See mosquito control.
Do block walls and rock yards shelter spiders too?
Yes. The same hollow-block walls and rock beds that shelter scorpions give spiders somewhere to hide, so the two are often checked together. Ask the technician to look at wall caps, irrigation boxes and eaves as well as the house. See spider control.
What is a pest emergency?
A bee swarm near people, a scorpion sting on a child, a rodent loose in the living space or a wasp nest by a doorway. Call right away. For a sting that causes serious symptoms, call a doctor or poison control first.
How do I book something that can wait?
Use the form on the contact page with your address, the pest and where you saw it. A termite inspection or a seasonal plan is fine to book that way. For anything stinging, biting or in the living space, calling is faster.
